The United States and Admiral Kitten to Moutonshoek Stud

Moutonshoek Stud on the Western Cape of South Africa is welcoming two top-level winners to its stallion roster for the coming southern-hemisphere breeding season – The United States and Admiral Kitten.

The United States, a seven-year-old son of Galileo, was originally trained by Aidan O'Brien, for whom he won the Group 3 Enterprise Stakes at three.

He was later sold to race for Robert Hickmott in Australia, where his finest hour came with victory in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes, in which he beat the likes of Criterion and Mongolian Khan.

He also notched two Group 2 successes in Australia – the Moonee Valley Gold Cup and the Crystal Mile.

The United States is a brother to Group 3 winner and 1,000 Guineas hopeful Hydrangea and a half-brother to high-class two-year-old and sprinter Fire Lily.

His dam, the Pivotal mare Beauty Is Truth, is a Group 2-winning sprinter and she hails from the family of Breeders' Cup Mile hero Last Tycoon and Classic winners Tie Black and Valentine Waltz.

Admiral Kitten, who becomes the first son of champion US turf sire Kitten's Joy to stand in South Africa, won the Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes and finished second in the Hollywood Derby and Jamaica Handicap for owner-breeders Ken and Sarah Ramsey.

The seven-year-old is out of the winning Grand Slam mare Reachinforthestars and is related to South African champion sire Fort Wood.

Admiral Kitten was originally retired to stand at Stroud's Lane Farm in Florida in 2016.
