Considering it is only a handicap, today's Stewards' Cup has had a surprisingly high number of able stallions feature on its roll of honour.

In modern times, various winners of the cavalry charge have sired horses who have recorded successes in the Derby, 2,000 Guineas, Nunthorpe, Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes, and even one of the most popular stayers of recent decades.
