Super Songbird scanned in foal to Arrogate
Sensational racemare Songbird has been scanned in foal to Arrogate, a dual winner of the world's best racehorse award.
The mating represented the union of two outstanding horses embarking on their first years at stud.
The news of the early positive pregnancy scan was confirmed by Timber Town Stables, where leading American breeder Mandy Pope boards many of her mares.
Pope made a winning bid of $9.5 million to secure Songbird at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale last year.
The five-year-old daughter of Medaglia D'Oro was a flamboyant front-runner who notched nine Grade 1 victories, including the Del Mar Debutante Stakes, Chandelier Stakes and Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies at two and the Santa Anita Oaks and CCA Oaks at three.
Arrogate - winner of the Breeders' Cup Classic, Pegasus World Cup and Dubai World Cup - is standing his first season at Juddmonte Farm in Kentucky at a fee of $75,000.
