The cutbacks being made to Sheikh Mohammed’s Godolphin operation, which began earlier this year in Australia and continued at the Tattersalls July sale, have now encompassed more than 60 yearlings which are being offered throughout the ongoing Keeneland September sale.

“There are some very nice offerings. There are horses that have very real chances to be very good racehorses,” said Dan Pride, chief operating officer of the organisation’s American base in Kentucky, which currently maintains a broodmare band of 200.

Pride said of the yearlings, which have been consigned through Taylor Made, Bluewater, Brookdale and Blandford Stud sales agencies and were sired by many of the Sheikh Mohammed’s leading stallions, including Medaglia D’Oro, Bernardini, the late Street Cry, Elusive Quality, Street Sense and first-crop stallion Animal Kingdom.
