Runner-by-runner pedigree guide for the Poule d'Essai des Poulains
PedigreeDeclaration Of War - Super Pie (Pivotal)
Breeder Dream With Me Stable
The highest-rated progeny by sophomore sire Declaration Of War, Olmedo is out of a winning daughter of Pivotal, a noted broodmare sire whose other daughters supplied last year's Pouliches winner Precieuse and St Leger scorer Harbour Law.
His target after the Poulains may be hinted at in his pedigree as his Listed-winning granddam, Super Lina, is a half-sister to Super Celebre, who was second to Dalakhani in the 2003 Prix du Jockey Club.
The colt is part-owned by Gerard Augustin-Normand, who also had a share in last year's winner Brametot.
Showcasing - Schlague (Pulpit)
Gestut Zur Kuste Ag
By a sire better known for sprint stars such as Quiet Reflection and Tasleet, Dice Roll is the sole black-type performer under his first two dams having won a key trial for Sunday's contest, the Prix Djebel, at Deauville in April. The next stakes performer on his page is his second dam, the classy sprinter-miler Si Je N'Avais Plus, who was twice placed in Listed company.
New Approach - Arsaadi (Dubawi)
Rabbah Bloodstock Limited
A son of the 2008 Derby winner New Approach, also responsible for this year's 2,000 Guineas third Masar and the 2013 winner of that same race, Dawn Approach.
Hey Gaman was bred by Rabbah Bloodstock, who notably bred both German Guineas winners last year in Poetic Dream and Unforgetable Filly.
While he is being stepped up to a mile for the first time, his dam, Arsaadi, was Group 3-placed over that distance, suggesting the trip should be well within his grasp.
Should he emerge victorious, it would be another significant boost for Dubawi's reputation as a broodmare sire, as his daughters have already supplied Jebel Hatta winner Blair House and the promising Key Victory in 2018.
War Front - Misty For Me (Galileo)
Misty For Me Syndicate
One of the talking points of recent seasons has been the ability of War Front's progeny to progress as three-year-olds, though Roly Poly won three mile Group 1s in quick succession and Homesman, Spirit Of Valor and War Decree all won Group contests too, going some way to dismissing any thoughts to the contrary.
US Navy Flag is a year-younger brother to Roly Poly, suggesting the colt, who raced 11 times as a juvenile including wins a fortnight apart in the Middle Park and Dewhurst Stakes, will be up to the challenge on Sunday.
The pair are out of Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Misty For Me - a daughter of none other than Galileo.
Siyouni - Healing Dream (Montjeu)
Mme A Tamagni and Cocheese Bloodstock Anstalt
A €55,000 yearling purchase, Infernal Majesty is by Siyouni, whose best performers include Ervedya and Laurens, who have shone over a mile.
His dam, Healing Dream, is a daughter of Montjeu, also the damsire of the 2015 1,000 Guineas winner Legatissimo.
Intello - Soudanaise (Peintre Celebre)
Dayton Investments Ltd
This son of sophomore sire Intello comes into the race having finished third to Wootton in the mile Prix de Fontainebleau, the same contest from which last year's winner, Brametot, emerged.
He would represent an almighty bargain should he win, having cost just €27,000 as a yearling. However, his sire won the Prix du Jockey Club, suggesting this colt will improve over further in time.
Panis - Hidden Magic (Bering)
S Joucla, S Joucla, R Joucla and E Dupont
Less-heralded sire Panis can seemingly do little wrong at present. In addition to last year's Gimcrack Stakes scorer Sands Of Mali, he supplied Wednesday's Prix Texanita winner Alistair.
Victory for Magic Bibou would really propel the sire, who currently stands at Haras des Faunes at a €2,500 fee, into the limelight.
Wootton Bassett - American Nizzy (American Post)
Ecurie Haras De Quetieville
Wootton shares his sire, Wootton Bassett, with European champion three-year-old Almanzor, and enters the race as favourite having defeated Olmedo by a head in the mile Prix de Fontainebleau.
He was acquired by Godolphin from his breeder Haras de Quetieville having won a mile maiden at Deauville by six lengths and his two subsequent stakes wins were also recorded over that distance.
His dam, the American Post mare American Nizzy, proved best at around a mile.
Raven's Pass - Sweet Alabama (Johannesburg)
Biddestone Stud Ltd
Breeder Biddestone Stud in Wiltshire will no doubt be shouting on this John Gosden-trained colt, who they sold as a foal for 20,000gns to AT Bloodstock at the Tattersalls December Sale.
The Raven's Pass colt has passed through the ring twice since, selling for £55,000 at last year's Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale.
He is out of a daughter of Johannesburg, also the damsire of Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Jet Setting.
Peer Gynt - Monatora (Hector Protector)
Snc Regnier, F Regnier and T Regnier
This dual Listed-winning miler, should he hit the line in front, would not be the first French Classic winner by a Japanese sire as Deep Impact hit the target with Beauty Parlour in the Pouliches.
Peer Gynt, who shares his sire, Sunday Silence, with Deep Impact, was retired to Haras de la Haie Neuve having finished second in the prestigious Takamatsunomiya Kinen as a five-year-old.
Scat Daddy - Gender Dance (Miesque's Son)
Rosemont Farm Llc
Breeze-up graduates Speciosa and The Grey Gatsby both boast Classic wins to their name, and Kings Shield would appear to hold a live chance of becoming the latest to accomplish the same feat from that sphere.
The son of Scat Daddy was the second breeze-up sale-topper out of the Miesque's Son mare Gender Dance after he topped the Tattersalls Craven Sale when selling for 675,000gns to David Redvers on behalf of Qatar Racing.
