Rumble in the jungle as Jane bags Bungle a first winner
The Rathasker Stud sire is the first freshman to get on the scoresheet in 2018
Rathasker Stud's Bungle Inthejungle became the first freshman sire to get off the mark in 2018 when his daughter Jungle Jane made all to land the opening 5f fillies' maiden at Dundalk on Wednesday.
The filly broke smartly from stall two and, despite showing signs of greenness once under pressure, she stuck her head down and ran on gamely to hold off the fast-finishing Romme by a neck.
Bungle Inthejungle was a precocious performer himself, running nine times at two and winning the Molecomb and Cornwallis Stakes under the care of Mick Channon. He achieved a peak Racing Post Rating of 108 for his success in the former event.

The son of Exceed And Excel hails from a fast family, as he is a half-brother to the Group 1-winning sprinter Muarrab and is a sibling to five other stakes performers, including his Listed-winning brother Waveband.
His second dam is also the Cherry Hinton Stakes winner Crime Of Passion.
Bungle Inthejungle, whose first crop were conceived at a fee of €5,000, has 95 two-year-olds to run for him in 2018, and is now as short as 14-1 in RaceBets' leading first-season sire market, having been clipped in from an opening show of 20s.
Jungle Jane was bred by Jackie O'Flynn out of the Acclamation mare Funcheon Vale, a half-sister to Grade 3-winning Miss Vegas. The filly was sold to Rathasker by Rathbarry Stud as a foal for €8,000 before being picked up by trainer Willie McCreery for €15,000 at last year's Goffs Orby Sale.
The winning debutante carried the colours of Madeline Burns, daughter of Rathasker Stud owner Maurice Burns, to success on Wednesday.
