Royal Ascot and Breeders' Cup winner Hootenanny joins Buck Pond Farm
The son of Quality Road won five races for Wesley Ward
Hootenanny, the 2014 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner, has been added to the stallion roster at Doug and Karen Arnold's Buck Pond Farm in Versailles, Kentucky for the 2018 covering season.
"Hootenanny was a brilliant racehorse and he is a brilliant individual. When breeders see him, they will love him," said Doug Arnold. "We are very excited to have a horse with his ability and pedigree at Buck Pond."
Trained by Wesley Ward throughout his 16-race career, Hootenanny won five races for the Coolmore partners, including the 2014 renewal of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Santa Anita Park under Frankie Dettori.
That performance capped a fruitful two-year-old campaign in which the son of Quality Road also landed the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot and finished runner-up to The Wow Signal in the Prix Morny.
Hootenanny returned to Royal Ascot at three and was sent off favourite for the inaugural running of the Commonwealth Cup, but could finish only 11th behind Muhaarar.
A winner at two, three and four, Hootenanny retires from racing with earnings of $876,700.
A $120,000 foal and $75,000 Keeneland September yearling, Hootenanny is out of the Hennessy mare More Hennessy, a close relation to Grade 1 winner Cat Moves, and from the family of top-flight scorers Ascend and Dance Teacher.
Hootenanny joins Conveyance, Niagara Causeway, V. E. Day and Wildcat Red on the Buck Pond roster. His fee will be announced in due course.
