Presenting duo surge clear in Grade 3 chase to give sire a one-two
My Murphy, the other Presenting in the race, was pulled up
Pleasant Company rallied to lead close home from Thunder And Roses in the Grade 3 Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse on Saturday, to provide their sire with a one-two.
It was a first Graded success for Pleasant Company, who was third in the Grade 2 Ten Up Novice Chase at Navan a fortnight ago.
Bred by Susan Bredin, the son of Presenting was sold for €35,000 as a three-year-old store at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale in 2011.
The nine-year-old gelding is the first foal out of the unraced Alderbrook mare Katie Flame and is from the family of Grand National hero Comply Or Die.
Pleasant Company saw off Thunder And Roses, another nine-year-old gelding by Presenting, by half a length with the pair 51 lengths clear of their nearest pursuer.
Bred by William O'Gorman, Thunder And Roses was the winner of the Irish Grand National in 2015, and is out of the Lancastrian mare Glen Empress, winner of a maiden hurdle and a point-to-point.
The 25-year-old mare has produced another National winner in Wrath Of Titans, who won the Kerry version at Listowel in September, Grade 2 bumper winner Shirley Casper, Listed hurdle winner Oligarch Society and the Listed-placed hurdler Lonesome Dove.
The third Presenting in the race, My Murphy, is a previous winner of the Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park, but was pulled up on this occasion.
