Offlee Wild passes away at the age of 16
His biggest victory came in the Grade 1 Suburban Handicap in 2005
Bayern: Grade 1 winner was by the late Offlee Wild
Offlee Wild, the sire of 2014 Breeders' Cup Classic hero Bayern, passed away at the TJK Silivri Stud in Turkey on Tuesday. He was 16.
Bred by Dorothy Matz out of the Seattle Slew mare Alvear, Offlee Wild was a half-brother to the Grade 2-winning mare Sangrita and hailed from the family of Grade 2 hero and sire Dynaformer.
Offered for sale at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale in 2001, he was snapped up by Azalea Stables for $325,000.
