Moyglare's Hazel Bay to make debut in Listed Salsabil Stakes
Iffraaj filly was bred by Frank Dunne and is a half-sister to Youmzain
Moyglare Stud pitch Hazel Bay straight into stakes company on Sunday when the Dermot Weld-trained filly makes her first start in the Listed Salsabil Stakes at Navan.
The three-year-old is clearly well thought of to be facing nine rivals who have previous experience and an examination of her pedigree shows why.
She was bred by reclusive owner and breeder Frank Dunne out of the winning Sadler's Wells mare Sadima, who has produced seven winners from seven foals to date.
Hazel Bay, therefore, is a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Youmzain, Lockinge Stakes hero Creachadoir and to the Group 3-winning Shreyas. Her third dam is none other than the Troy mare Cocotte, who produced her own superstar in multiple Group/Grade 1 winner Pilsudski - one of a number of horses to carry the Weinstock's light blue and yellow silks to victory.
Youmzain, who previously stood at Haras du Quesnay, was recently announced by Glenview Stud to be joining their roster for the 2018 breeding season.
Moyglare secured Hazel Bay for 78,000gns at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale in 2015 and with a beautiful pedigree, they'll be hoping she can add valuable black type to her name.
