Wait Forever lands the Italian 2,000 Guineas for Camelot

Camelot, who came so close to winning the Triple Crown in 2012, recorded his second Group winner from his first crop when Wait Forever obliged in the Premio Parioli - Italy's equivalent of the 2,000 Guineas - at Capannelle on Sunday.

Trained by Alduino Botti and ridden by Dario Vargiu, Wait Forever led home a 1-2-3 for the stable, with Helmet colt Met Spectrum in second and Lope De Vega colt Pettifogger in third.

Bred by Pier House Stud, Wait Forever is out of the Holy Roman Emperor mare Mount McLeod, a winning half-sister to Richmond Stakes winner Hamoody and Triumph Hurdle scorer Ivanovich Gorbatov.

Sunday's winner was purchased by his trainer for €22,000 at the 2016 Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale, while his year-younger Slade Power half-brother was purchased by Joseph Tuite for €15,000 at the same sale a year later.

Camelot recorded his fourth stakes winner later on Sunday, with his three-year-old son Naturally High successfully making the step up in grade in the Listed Prix de Suresnes over 1m2f at Longchamp - the same course where his dam, Just Little, won the Group 3 Prix Vanteaux.

Listed success for Sageburg's progeny in both codes on Saturday

Garryrichard Stud resident Sageburg showed off his prowess as a dual-purpose sire by supplying a Listed winner on the Flat and over jumps in France on Saturday.

Fiumicino, a three-year-old gelding, got the ball rolling for his sire by winning the Prix Wild Monarch for colts and geldings at Auteuil, seeing off the Rip Van Winkle gelding Last Sparkler by a head.

Bred by the Dubois family, he is out of a half-sister to the Paul Nicholls-trained Far West.

Red Line, a three-year-old filly, then completed the double by winning a mile Listed contest at Toulouse, beating the Evasive filly Misva by one and a quarter lengths.

She, too, was bred by the Dubois family, out of the useful sprinter-miler Red Love, by Gone West.

Mucho Macho Man off the mark with first runner

Mucho Macho Man, winner of the 2013 Breeders' Cup Classic, recorded his first winner as a sire following the success of his first ever runner, Mucho Amor, in a 4½f maiden special weight on dirt at Keeneland on Thursday.

Bred by Ed Few, the February-born filly is out of the Rock Hard Ten mare Raucous Lady, and is trained by Wesley Ward for Ten Broeck Farm.

Joel Rosario came with a late run on the filly, and it will be interesting to see if she will now form part of Ward's Royal Ascot squad.
