Japanese champion Mikki Isle to shuttle to Arrowfield Stud

Mikki Isle, last year's champion sprinter and miler in Japan, will shuttle to Arrowfield Stud in New South Wales for this year's southern-hemisphere breeding season.

The six-year-old son of multiple Japanese champion sire Deep Impact is covering his first book of mares at the Shadai Stallion Station.

Mikki Isle was bred by Northern Racing out of the winning Rock Of Gibraltar mare Star Isle, making him a half-brother to Group 3-placed miler Taisei Starry.

He was trained by Hidetaka Otonashi to win eight races, including the NHK Mile Cup at three and the Mile Championship at five.

He also twice finished placed in the Takamatsunomiya Kinen, a top-level event over 6f, and was second last year in the Sprinters Stakes.

Mikki Isle will join Real Impact, another dual Grade 1-winning son of Deep Impact, on the shuttle trip from Japan to Arrowfield Stud, which has acquired an interest in both horses.

Arrowfield will announce its 2017 stallion fees after the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
