Jacqueline Quest's half-sister Mam'Selle off the mark
Daughter of Teofilo got the better of Circulation at Salisbury on Thursday
A thrilling encounter between two well-bred debutantes took place in a 1m2f fillies' maiden at Salisbury on Thursday, with Mam'Selle coming out on top by a nose.
The three-year-old daughter of Teofilo, trained by William Haggas for Highclere Thoroughbreds, was bred by Roundhill Stud and C and M Murphy out of the winning Croco Rouge mare Coquette Rouge.
She is a half-sister to Jacqueline Quest, who was trained by Sir Henry Cecil to finish first past the post in the 2010 1,000 Guineas only to be disqualified and placed second behind Special Duty. Retired to the paddocks, Jacqueline Quest has now produced two winners including the Listed-placed Hibiscus.
Mam'Selle was picked up by John and Jake Warren for 80,000gns at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in 2015.
Ralph Beckett's Circulation pushed her opponent all the way to the line and is equally bred in the purple.
A Juddmonte homebred by Oasis Dream, her dam is the Listed-winning Caerleon mare Double Crossed - making her a half-sister to four-time Group 1 scorer Twice Over. Further back, Circulation's page includes Falmouth Stakes heroine Timepiece and Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner Passage Of Time.
