Gutaifan the busiest stallion of 2016's intake of new sires

Gutaifan was the busiest of this year's new intake of sires in Britain and Ireland, having covered 203 mares in his debut season at Yeomanstown Stud in County Kildare according to figures available on Weatherbys Bloodstock Reports.

The three-year-old, who was retired to stand alongside his extremely popular sire Dark Angel, won the Prix Robert Papin and Flying Childers Stakes and finished second in the Prix Morny to be rewarded with 203 mares.

Gutaifan covered ten stakes winners, while among the better-known mares listed as having visited him are Chiang Mai, the dam of Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Chinese White; Danish Gem, the dam of Listed scorers Artistic Jewel and Ponty Rossa; and Masai Queen, the dam of Vintage Stakes winner Chandlery.
