Two half-sisters to Teofilo will see action on Saturday at opposite ends of the career spectrum.

Poetic Charm, a homebred debutante for Godolphin, will line up against 13 opponents in a 7f maiden for two-year-olds at Newmarket (1.45); while her year-older sibling Bean Feasa will line up with an outside chance in the Darley Irish Oaks (5.55).

Trained by Charlie Appleby, Poetic Charm is a Dubawi sister to Bean Feasa and half-sister to the champion two-year-old and Classic sire Teofilo, out of the Danehill mare Speirbhean.

Both Bean Feasa and Speirbhean won the Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown, the former successful in this year's renewal.

Speirbhean has also produced a yearling brother to Poetic Charm, and is out of a winning sibling to Grade 1 scorers Judge Angelucci and War.

Poetic Charm holds an early entry in the Moyglare Stud Stakes.

Mendelssohn's debut music to the ears

The Aidan O'Brien-trained Mendelssohn catches the eye for a different reason - the eye-watering sum of $3 million paid by MV Magnier to secure the Scat Daddy colt as top lot from last year's Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

The two-year-old lines up in a 13-runner field for the 7f juvenile maiden opening the card at the Curragh (3.10).

Bred by Clarkland Farm, Mendelssohn is a half-brother to Beholder and Into Mischief.

No filly or mare in the US could match Beholder in her champion campaigns aged two, three, five and six, and the Richard Mandella-trained mare bowed out after winning the Breeders' Cup Distaff in November. She is in foal to Uncle Mo.

Into Mischief, a son of Harlan's Holiday, won the Grade 1 Futurity Stakes at two, and was Grade 1-placed at three before being retired to Spendthrift Farm in 2009.

The sire of dual Breeders' Cup winner Goldencents now stands at a fee of $75,000, ten times his advertised fee in 2011 and 2012.

Mendelssohn holds early entries to the Vincent O'Brien National Stakes and the Group 2 Futurity Stakes at the Curragh, and the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at York, suggesting he is held in high regard by connections.
