Flying start continues with first winner outside of Europe
Soul Stirring scores on her debut in Japan
Frankel's flying start with his first two-year-olds broke new ground on Sunday when his daughter Soul Stirring scored on her debut at Sapporo in Japan, and in the process became the first winner outside of Europe for her sire.
Trained by Kazuo Fujisawa and ridden by Christophe Lemaire, the filly was settled in the middle of the pack before making her move as the field turned for home. As the race entered its final stages she found an extra burst of speed to win by a neck.
The Shadai Farm homebred boasts a classy pedigree as her dam is none other than Stacelita, a daughter of Monsun who won six Group/Grade 1 contests during her career.
