National Defense, the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere winner who was retired this year to stand alongside his sire Invincible Spirit at the Irish National Stud, has his first mares scanned in foal.

They are:

  • Alta Moda, owned by Lanwades, an unraced daughter of Sadler's Wells and the operation's dual Champion Stakes heroine Alborada who has produced the classy pair Ghurair and Groor.
  • Albarouche, a winning daughter of Sadler's Wells from the family of Alborada who is the dam of Listed-placed Nibbling. She is owned by Barouche Stud.
  • Kibara, a winning Sadler's Wells sister to Milan owned by Ghislain Bozo and Brian Williamson. She is the dam of the smart trio Dubara, Kikonga and King Kinshasa.
  • Caipirinia, Haras de Montaigu's Hawk Wing half-sister to Native Khan who has produced the smart Show Me.

National Defense is standing his first season at a fee of €12,000.
