Cheveley Park Stud's Mrs Consistency makes it 11 from 11
Dalton continues the excellent run of success for his dam Pious
Not many broodmares would be able to lay a glove on Pious when it comes to consistency.
The Cheveley Park Stud stalwart on Tuesday posted her 11th winner from as many runners when three-year-old son Dalton eased to a near four-length victory in a 6f maiden at Ayr.
Dalton, trained by David O'Meara for owner David Armstrong, hails from the first crop of Cheveley Park Stud sire Mayson, who carried Armstrong's silks to win the July Cup and Palace House Stakes.
Dalton was a £150,000 purchase by Armstrong's Highfield Farm operation at the DBS Premier Yearling Sale in 2015.
He looks capable of going on to better things and it is notable that his dam has achieved quality as well as quantity in her illustrious paddocks career.
The best runner by Pious on Racing Post Ratings is Penitent, with a mark of 117. The gelded son of Kyllachy won two Group 2 races – the Joel Stakes and Bet365 Mile – and finished second in the Group 1 Prix de la Foret.
His brother Supplicant won the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes and stands as a stallion at Haras des Trois Chapelles in France.
Solemn, their three-parts brother by Kyllachy's sire Pivotal, has won ten races, all over 5f, and his brother Divine Call has notched nine sprint successes.
Another notable sibling, the Dutch Art gelding My Boy Bill, scored in the Brocklesby Stakes in 2012.
Between them, the 11 winners out of Pious have gained 41 race victories and placed another 62 times.
Pious, an 18-year-old daughter of Bishop Of Cashel, was a dual winner over 6f but achieved a best RPR of only 76 in her own racing career.
Remarkably, considering Pious and her foals' penchant for sprinting, her best-known siblings were accomplished jumpers: Teaatral won the Long Distance Hurdle and Rendlesham Hurdle, while Mister RM finished second in the Dovecote Novices' Hurdle and Swinton Hurdle before developing into a classy novice chaser.
Another half-sister to Pious is the dam of Dan Skelton's classy chaser Two Taffs, although further back it is the family of top-class sprinters Dominica and Ya Malak.
Pious has a two-year-old colt by Kyllachy sold to Shadwell last year for 260,000gns and named Tabaahy, as well as a yearling colt by the sire she has clicked so well with.
Last year, for the first time, she visited a stallion who does not stand at home at Cheveley Park Stud, heading to the Irish National Stud for a tryst with Free Eagle instead.
