In a maiden contested by sisters to both Churchill and Winter, it was Jim Bolger's homebred Gasta who instead drew attention to an intriguing pedigree of her own at the Curragh on Saturday.

After the race Bolger reiterated his desire to keep the Bold Ruler line alive in Europe through the filly's sire Vocalised, who stands at Bolger's Redmonstown Stud in County Wexford. His most accomplished runner to date is Steip Amach, a dual Group 3 winner.

After finishing fourth in a maiden won by the great Sea The Stars on his debut, Vocalised won his next four starts - including the Greenham Stakes - before losing his form. Purchased for $560,000 as a yearling, Vocalised is out of a daughter of 11-time Grade 1 winner Serena's Song, whose ten winners included Coronation Stakes winner Sophisticat.

Vocalised's half-sister Serena's Cat, meanwhile, is the dam of American star Honor Code, not to mention Declarationofpeace, an impressive six-length winner on his second start for Aidan O'Brien earlier this month.

Gasta herself, who was driven out to win by a head, is the second foal out of the Smart Strike mare Buille Cliste, a half-sister to Listed scorer Chance To Dance. Their dam, in turn, is a half-sister to a trio of stakes winners including champion three-year-old colt Rodrigo De Triano.
