Bidpoint facility shelved before point-to-point season

Firm to concentrate on selling pointers at Cheltenham and Ascot

Tattersalls Ireland has suspended its online auction facility Bidpoint ahead of the upcoming point-to-point season.

The initiative was launched last February, with owners and trainers able to flag up a point-to-point horse as being up for sale at the entry stage, with prospective buyers able to bid on a horse for around 48 hours after a race.

However, Tattersalls Ireland director of horses in training Richard Pugh said: "We were satisfied with Bidpoint in the early stages but a number of factors have contributed to this difficult decision.
