Andrew Mead stands down from long-held agents' federation role

Oliver St Lawrence, chairman of the Federation of Bloodstock Agents, has paid tribute to the organisation's outgoing secretary general Andrew Mead as former Thoroughbred Breeders' Association chief executive Louise Kemble takes on the role.

Mead, a director of the Castlebridge Consignment, is stepping down after a tenure that has spanned more than 20 years.

“Andrew has worked tirelessly in support of the federation, and the council is indebted to him as he leaves the FBA in good financial health and order,” said St Lawrence.

“In advance of the FBA AGM on Thursday, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank him on behalf of the members for all his support and to welcome his successor, Louise Kemble.”

Kemble was chief executive of the TBA for 16 of the 20 years she worked at the organisation, until she relinquished the role to concentrate on the running of The Elms Stud in Northamptonshire in 2016.

She will continue to oversee the stud while providing part-time administrative support to the FBA.

The FBA council has also welcomed Matt Coleman of Stroud Coleman Bloodstock, who has been co-opted to the board to replace Andrew Mead.

A statement from the FBA said: “Matt's knowledge of Flat and National Hunt racing and breeding makes him ideally suited to ensuring the council retains its balanced representation.”
