The catalogue for the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale has been released, with siblings to top-level winners and horses out of Group or Grade 1-winning mares among the highlights.
The sale's most famous graduate in recent times is undoubtedly last season's Dewhurst and National Stakes winner Native Trail, who was crowned European champion juvenile and who sold to Godolphin from Oak Tree Farm for 210,000gns at the sale in 2021.
Other notable graduates who shone last season are the Group 2-winning pair of Asymmetric and Go Bears Go.
Among this year's entries are full- or half-brothers and sisters to 27 Group or Listed winners, including Tally-Ho Stud's Mehmas half-sister to Phoenix Stakes winner Ebro River (Lot 65) and Mocklershill's No Nay Never half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Harlem (111).
Also catalogued are the Brown Island Stables-consigned Lope De Vega half-brother to Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Just The Judge (144), Mocklershill's Sioux Nation half-brother to 2021 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint winner Twilight Gleaming (84), the Zoffany half-brother to Group 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Lemista (59), plus Longways Stables' Adaay half-brother to multiple Group 1-placed sprinter Dragon Symbol (103).
There are a further 24 two-year-olds out of Group or Listed-winning mares, including including fillies by Showcasing and War Front out of top-level winners Penelopa and Dancing Rags.
Among the Classic or Group/Grade 1-winning sires represented are Acclamation, Australia, Dark Angel, Invincible Spirit, Kingman, Lope De Vega, Mehmas, New Bay, Night Of Thunder, Sea The Stars, Siyouni, Zoffany and Zoustar. Some of last season's leading first-season sires in Ardad, Cotai Glory, Galileo Gold and Profitable also have progeny entered.
This term's first-season sires represented include Cracksman, Expert Eye, Harry Angel, Havana Grey, James Garfield, Kessaar, Saxon Warrior, Sioux Nation and Tasleet, while American stallions include American Pharoah, Honor Code, Kitten's Joy and War Front.
In addition to all lots being eligible for the £250,000 Royal Ascot/Group 1 Bonus and the £15,000 Craven Breeze Up Bonus, eight lots are entered in the £100,000 Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes, with a further three in the £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes and six in the €300,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes.
There are also eleven two-year-olds eligible for French Owners’ Premiums, six fillies registered for the Great British Bonus Scheme and one lot entered in the £20,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus.
Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said: "2021 was a benchmark year for the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale with the unbeaten European champion two-year-old Native Trail landing a huge Craven Group 1 Bonus when winning the National Stakes and two additional Group 2-winning juveniles further enhancing the global reputation of the sale.
"The sale has been strongly supported by Europe’s leading breeze-up consignors and the combination of an outstanding catalogue and unrivalled bonuses makes the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up a compelling prospect for both domestic and overseas buyers."
He added: "The breeze for the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale will take place at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile racecourse on Monday, April 11, starting at 9.30am, with the sale taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 12 and 13 after the conclusion of racing on the first two days of Newmarket’s three-day Craven meeting."
