'He's going places' - 85,000gns Time Test nomination tops Tattersalls Online
A breeding right to Havana Gold sold to Haras du Mont Dit Mont for 35,000gns
Time Test's hugely promising start to his stallion career has not gone unnoticed and Ross Doyle secured a breeding right to the National Stud's first-season sire when going to 85,000gns at the Tattersalls Online Sale on Wednesday.
The Juddmonte-bred son of Dubawi and Passage Of Time notched up a brace of Group 2 wins for Roger Charlton before securing two top-level placings in the United States for Chad Brown, and his stallion career is looking promising too.
He has sired three black-type winners, namely the unbeaten German Group 3 scorer Rocchigiani, Dick Poole Stakes victress Romantic Time and Listed winner Tardis, as well as last weekend's Moyglare Stud Stakes third Sunset Shiraz and Premio Primi Passi third The King's Horses.
Doyle said: "I bought the nomination for a client who likes to buy shares and support that with a mare every year.
"He's a sire going places, has been extremely well supported and is extremely capable of getting a decent horse. His future is ahead of him, while Tim [Lane] and all the team at the National Stud have done a great job."
The National Stud’s head of nominations and sales Joe Callan added: "It’s a great result and a true reflection on his success to date. The Tattersalls Online platform offered an excellent opportunity for a breeding right to be offered on the back of Time Test's recent outstanding results."
A second nomination, this time to Tweenhills' Havana Gold, took second top-lot honours when selling to Haras du Mont Dit Mont for 35,000gns.
The son of Teofilo is the source of high-class talent such as Flying Five Stakes winner and first-crop sire Havana Grey, Hackwood Stakes victor Tabdeed and Curragh Stakes winner Treasuring, plus this season's Windsor Castle Stakes victor Chipotle and fellow juvenile stakes winner Fearby.
Havana Gold has sired 23 individual two-year-old winners in Europe this year, while a number of his youngsters hold Group 1 entries.
Alex Elliott, meanwhile, went to 32,000gns to secure the services of Espouse, a three-year-old daughter of Elusive Pimpernel who won on her second start for Jessica Harrington at Naas in May.
She is the first foal out of the unraced Oasis Dream mare Sea Of Dreams, a close relation to Desmond Stakes winner Pincheck and a half-sister to another Group-race winner in Brownstown Stakes victress Valeria Messalina.
The trio are out of a winning full-sister to Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Handicap scorer Prince Arch who is also a half-sister to National Stakes winner Kingsfort.
Elliott, who was bidding from the US, said: "My mother part owns the two-year-old half-sister Azure Blue, who was very unlucky on her most recent start and we hope could be stakes class. She’s a filly from a young family that I like a lot so I’m excited to have bought her."
From 32 lots offered, 11 sold for turnover of 188,200gns, an average of 17,109gns and a median of 9,000gns.
