The first colt and filly by St Leger hero Harbour Law arrived to the delight of the Batsford Stud team in Moreton-in-Marsh this week.

His first offspring was born on Thursday and is a colt foal out of the winning Dutch Art mare Tohfa, who was purchased by Jackie Cornwell at the 2018 Tattersalls December Sale with the intention of sending her to Harbour Law.

"We're very pleased to have foaled the first Harbour Law foal at Batsford," said the stud's Tim Varey. "He's very correct and has lots of bone."

Tohfa was carrying to Bated Breath when she went through the ring and delivered a filly foal by him last year.

Harbour Law's first filly arrived on Friday and is out of the unraced Kheleyf mare Straviethirteen, who produced a French Navy filly last year.

"Again she's very correct," notes Varey, who added that "Harbour Law has quite a few more due in the next ten days".

Both colt and filly are owned by Jackie Cornwell, in whose colours Harbour Law ran.

Harbour Law - standing this season at a £2,500 fee - sprung a 22-1 surprise in the Doncaster Classic when winning the race for trainer Laura Mongan, and added his name to a roll of honour that includes successful jumps sires such as Milan, Millenary, Scorpion and Shantou.

Bred by Hascombe and Valiant Studs, Harbour Law is a seven-year-old son of Lawman out of the talented sprinter and Pivotal mare Abunai, while her dam Ingozi also produced the EP Taylor Stakes scorer Miss Keller.

Trained out of Mongan's Epsom base, Harbour Law first ran as a three-year-old, winning three of his six races that season, a run that culminated with success in the last Classic of the British Flat season.

Harbour Law only made two appearances at four, including when third to Big Orange in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot on his racing swansong.
