Half-brother to top-class sprinter Muhaarar to debut for Shadwell at Newcastle
The four-year-old War Front gelding is the eighth foal out of Tahrir
Charlie Hills and Shadwell combined to great effect with Muhaarar and the team head up to Newcastle for the debut of Alrehb, a War Front half-brother to the four-time Group 1 winner.
The four-year-old gelding is the eighth foal out of the winning stakes-placed Tahrir, a full- or half-sister to three black-type winners including Prix de Guiche scorer Mister Sacha, who was himself a sibling to four black-type performers.
His Oasis Dream half-brother won on debut at two for Hills before adding the Gimcrack Stakes to his placed efforts in the July and Winkfield Stakes. He rounded off his juvenile career when third behind Charming Thought in the Middle Park Stakes.
Muhaarar went on to dominate the sprint division at three, despite having won the Greenham and then run in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains, in which he finished eighth behind Make Believe.
He finished his career in blazing style with victories in the Commonwealth and July Cups, Prix Maurice de Gheest and finally the British Champions Sprint Stakes, beating a field that included Twilight Son and The Tin Man.
Now based at Shadwell's Nunnery Stud, the nine-year-old has sired five black-type winners to date, including Horris Hill Stakes scorer Mujbar and Prix de Lutece winner Paix. His Listed-winning daughter Albaflora, a homebred of Kirsten Rausing's Lanwades Stud, was recently second behind the brilliant Snowfall in the Yorkshire Oaks.
Alrehb and Muhaarar are also related to three other black-type performers, including Dick Poole Fillies' Stakes winner Sajwah.
Alrehb is set to face ten rivals in the mile novice stakes (2.10), including Cheveley Park Stud's debut winner Bashkirova, a daughter of Pivotal and a granddaughter of the top-class Russian Rhythm, plus Discover Dubai, Godolphin's gelded son of Teofilo out of the stakes-winning Cape Cross mare Emboss.
Bred by Alan Byrne, Geraldine Canning and Tinnakill Bloodstock, the four-year-old was picked up by Godolphin for 170,000gns at the 2017 Tattersalls December Foal Sale.
