Group 1-placed Trais Fluors among the highlights of this weekend's Arc Sale
Some 40 horses will be offered at Saint-Cloud
Minds will be very much on future talent with the yearlings at Tattersalls next week but the focus is on the here and now for Arqana’s Arc Sale on Saturday evening.
A quick diversion from the action at Longchamp will see 40 horses going under the hammer at Saint-Cloud on the eve of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, with one familiar name and a few bright prospects promising to deliver six-figure sums once again.
Last year’s top lot was the dual German Group 2 winner Ancient Spirit, who was bought privately for €650,000 and went for a brief spell in Australia before resurfacing for Jim Bolger and owner Zhang Yuesheng.
The marquee inclusion would appear to be Trais Fluors (lot 10), who has been a model of consistency at the highest level for Andre Fabre. A Group 3 winner at three, he chased home Thunder Snow in the Prix Jean Prat and has made the frame in the Prix d'Ispahan for the last two seasons.
Fabre is offering four horses in all, with Homer (5), a Niarchos-bred gelded son of Sea The Stars who has been progressive all summer, likely to make appeal after a recent Group 3 third while Alwaab (36) is a recent Listed-winning son of Toronado
Air Dance (7) put himself in the shop window at just the right time, too. A half-brother to Group 1 winner and 2,000 Guineas runner-up French Fifteen, he was unraced as a juvenile and got off the mark in a Longchamp maiden in June.
Last weekend, the So You Think colt was a convincing winner of a nine-furlong conditions event in Lyon.
Some useful two-year-old additions have also been added in recent days including the Yarmouth winner Ikigai (40), who was enterprisingly placed by Ilka Gansera-Leveque to finish third in Listed company at Maisons-Laffitte a few days ago. She is also a close relative to the smart Japanese filly Mikki Charm.
Meanwhile last in the ring Kronprinz (50), an experienced performer and winner of a Group 3 in Dusseldorf last weekend for Peter Schiergen, is the sort to appeal to international buyers.
