Golden Horn's sibling Princesse D'Or out for a rapid start at Kempton
Frankel filly cost 2,000,000gns at Tattersalls last year
There's a specially-bred filly stepping out for the first time at Kempton on Wednesday with the debut of Golden Horn's Frankel half-sister Princesse D'Or.
Godolphin and Charlie Appleby's two-year-old has been named with a nod to her dam, the Oppenheimer family's magnificent broodmare Fleche D'Or.
Fleche D'Or is a half-sister to Hascombe and Valiant Stud's cherished Coronation Stakes winner and producer Rebecca Sharp, and has a distinguished roll-call of her own.
They are headed by Dalham Hall resident Golden Horn, who was bought back at Tattersalls less than a year after Fleche d'Or herself had been sold. Golden Horn went on to win the Derby, Eclipse, Irish Champion Stakes and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
Subsequently, the mare has produced Dhababi, who was bought by Godolphin for 3,100,000gns and showed great promise as a two-year-old in 2020 but has not been seen this year.
Another sibling, Eastern Belle, was a Listed winner at Newbury and Graded placed in America as well as being the dam of Anthony Oppenheimer's recent Sovereign Stakes scorer Megallan.
Godolphin went in again for Princess D'Or at Tattersalls Book 1 last year, reaching to 2,000,000gnsfor the offering from Norelands Stud.
Tom Marquand comes in for the ride in the Unibet/British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes, an interesting event which features a newcomer sired by her Classic-winning sibling, Claremont Avenue, who is from an industrious female family.
Love Someone, in the Newsells Park silks for Sir Michael Stoute, is a Sea The Stars half-sister to Demarchelier, the US Graded winner turned Claiborne stallion.
