Goffs Orby sale-topper Minnie Hauk lives up to pedigree with Cheshire Oaks success

Seven-figure Goffs Orby Book 1 graduate Minnie Hauk took another step forward in living up to her price tag and pedigree when claiming the Listed Weatherbys ePassport Cheshire Oaks.
The contest has been won by subsequent Oaks heroines Enable and Light Shift in recent years and this year's winner could also be treading a familiar path to Epsom next month.
Having won on her second start at Leopardstown over a mile last October, Minnie Hauk took the step up to an extended 1m3f in her stride, comfortably holding Kirsten Rausing homebred Secret Of Love by a length at the line.
Paul Smith of Coolmore told ITV Racing: "She's a very kind and uncomplicated filly and we were really happy with that. Ryan [Moore] was quite taken by her, she'll improve a ton for it [the outing] and she's probably Oaks-bound now."
By Frankel - sire of a previous winner of the race in subsequent Group 2 Prix de Malleret scorer and Nassau Stakes second Mehdaayih - the Ben Sangster-bred filly is appropriately in possession of a Juddmonte pedigree to boot.
She is the sixth foal out of the Juddmonte-bred Dansili mare Multilingual, the dam of Group 2 Summer Mile and Group 3 Thoroughbred Stakes winner Tilsit, by a former Juddmonte sire in First Defence. That colt, Group 1-placed when a narrow second in the Prix d'Ispahan, is now standing in Turkey.

Multilingual is in turn out of Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine Zenda, making her a half-sister to champion miler and Juddmonte's brilliant sire Kingman, as well as a sister to Group 3 Hampton Court Stakes scorer Remote, now standing at stud in South America.
Zenda, also the dam of black-type performers First Eleven and Sunray Major, is a half-sister to another Juddmonte giant in champion sprinter and outstanding Banstead Manor stalwart Oasis Dream. They are out of Dancing Brave mare Hope, a sister to Irish Oaks heroine Wemyss Bight, the dam of top-level winner and sire Beat Hollow.
Multilingual sold from Mill Ridge Sales at the 2019 Keeneland November Sale to Sangster at a cost of $525,000. It was money well spent given Minnie Hauk was picked up by MV Magnier for €1.85 million at Goffs Orby Book 1 in 2023. Sangster had also bred Coolmore's multiple Group 1 winner and new National Hunt sire Luxembourg.
Minnie Hauk's dam has an unnamed two-year-old filly by No Nay Never and was among Justify's star-studded book last year at Ashford Stud.
The following Boodles Chester Vase saw the Ballydoyle team complete a double with Australia colt Lambourn. This time a Coolmore homebred, the three-year-old is out of Scat Daddy mare Gossamer Wings, a winner on her third start at two for Aidan O'Brien and Group-placed when second in the Queen Mary and Flying Childers Stakes.
Lambourn, a Listed winner at two when landing the Criterium de l'Ouest at Craon, is the 24th individual Group/Graded winner for his Coolmore Stud-based sire.
