Grisy Apple's, a three-year-old half-brother to prolific Grade 1 hurdle winner Apple's Jade and talented hurdler Apple's Shakira, will line up in the prestigious Prix Emilius over 2m2f at Auteuil on Saturday (2.38 local time/1.38 BST).

The hurdle race for colts and geldings, who are unraced over obstacles, has previously been won by the likes of dual Grade 1-winning chaser Balder Succes, Triumph Hurdle winner Rolling Star and high-class novice chaser Le Mercurey.

Trained by Emmanuel Clayeux for Pierre Coveliers, Grisy Apple's will be ridden by James Reveley.

Clayeux will also send out the Sholokhov gelding Thesongyouneed, who he bred, trains and part-owns, together with Walter Connors, a stalwart of the Irish point-to-point scene.

Grisy Apple's, a son of Montjeu stallion Montmartre, is the sixth runner for Apple's For Ever, whose first five foals were all by the late Saddler Maker.

Apple's Jade has won no fewer than seven Grade 1 hurdles, including a jaw-dropping 41-length success in the Four-Year-Old Juvenile Hurdle at Aintree in 2016.

Apple's Shakira was fancied to emulate her sister - a Mares' Hurdle winner - by scoring at the Cheltenham Festival, but could only muster a fourth-place finish to Farclas in this year's Triumph Hurdle.

Apple's For Ever also has a two-year-old filly by Saddler Maker named Apple's Du Pont and a Martaline yearling filly named Apple's Pierro.

The feature race at Auteuil on Saturday is the Grade 3 Prix Pierre du Lassus Hurdle, which will see the return of high-class hurdlers Tunis and Master Dino.
