There was a strong suspicion that Montjeu was on his way to becoming a fertile source of jumps talent as early as 2013, the year that Fame And Glory joined Grange Stud as part of Coolmore’s jumps division.

Of course, Montjeu is rightly remembered as one of the great Classic sires of his time. By 2013, he was already the joint most successful Derby stallion in history as the sire of Motivator, Authorized, Pour Moi and Camelot, in turn the highlights of a stud career that came to comprise 31 Group 1 winners across the globe.

Yet Montjeu was, after all, the product of the Sadler’s Wells - Top Ville cross and a horse who was at his most brilliant over 1m4f. With that in mind, it stood to reason that he would one day make his presence felt over jumps.
