Haras de Montaigu's great new jump stallion hope Beaumec De Houelle has become the father of his first foal with the birth of a bay filly on February 2.

The youngster, owned in 50 per cent partnership between Benoit Gabeur and Antoine de Talhoüet-Roy, is out of the unraced Turgeon mare Petale Rose, whose only foal to have raced so far, Speedy Date, was the winner of a chase at Orleans last year.

Beaumec De Houelle was an outstanding hurdler in France, winning five of his six starts including what was to be his swansong in the Grade 1 Prix Cambaceres at Auteuil in November 2018.

He was snapped up by Montaigu to pre-empt the loss of its brilliant resident and champion National Hunt stallion Martaline, who died late last year.

Standing for €5,000, Beaumec De Houlle has already been well supported by shareholders and is expected to cover 150 mares this year.
