Palace Pier: world champion miler's first foals are arriving

Darley's world champion miler Palace Pier and multiple Group 1 winner Space Blues are among the latest young sires to welcome their first foals.

Palace Pier was officially rated Kingman's best son with nine wins from 11 starts for John Gosden. His five top-flight successes saw him take the St James's Palace Stakes, two Prix Jacques le Marois, the Lockinge Stakes and Queen Anne Stakes.

The Highclere Stud and Floors Farming-bred six-year-old retired to Dalham Hall Stud for the 2022 season at a fee of £55,000.

His first foal born was a colt out of the Dubawi mare Tanaaghom, herself out of the stakes-winning and Group-placed Teofilo mare Adool and from the family of Elnadim and Mehthaaf.

Connections said: "[He's] a good foal, with a nice head and good shape and colour."

Palace Pier's first book of mares included Integral, Speedy Boarding and Great Heavens, as well as the dams of Cracksman, Aclaim and Farhh and sisters to Kinross, Magna Grecia, Alpha Centauri, Moonlight Cloud and Nightime.

Kildaragh Stud also welcomed a filly by Space Blues, a prolific son of Dubawi whose successes for Charlie Appleby and Godolphin included the Prix Maurice de Gheest, Prix de la Foret and Breeders' Cup Mile.

The foal is out of the multiple winner and Group-placed Samasthiti, a smart daughter of Camelot who was third to Grand Glory in the Group 3 Prix de Flore in 2020.

Space Blues stands the 2023 season for a fee of €16,000, having stood last term at €17,500.
