Ex-Elite man Matt Budden joins Highclere Thoroughbred Racing
Axom and Biddestone Racing also on the CV of Highclere's new recruit
Matt Budden, formerly manager of Elite Racing Club and Axom, and more recently Biddestone Racing, has joined the team at Highclere Thoroughbred Racing.
Harry Herbert of Highclere said: "I am delighted to announce that Matt Budden has joined our racing team here at Highclere. Matt has spent the last five years managing Biddestone Racing and prior to that spent over 15 years managing Elite Racing Club and Axom Racehorse syndicates, so has a wealth of experience in the industry and in particular looking after owners.
"He joins with all the right credentials to provide our owners with the highest level of communication and service we pride ourselves on."
Budden said: "I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Highclere Racing at such an exciting time. Thunderous and Ascension are standouts from the current crop of two-year-olds and the new draft of yearlings already being assembled have a distinct look of class and quality. I can’t wait for the legendary Highclere Yearling Parades.
"The jumps horses are also very strong and should be contesting many big races throughout the winter and onto the spring festivals."
During his time at Elite Racing Club and Axom Racehorse Syndicates Budden masterminded the matings of Group 1 winners Soviet Song, Ribbons and Marsha, and oversaw hundreds of winners - including at every British racecourse - and numerous victories at Royal Ascot and Cheltenham Festival.
