Rathasker Stud owner Maurice Burns could not have scripted it better if he'd tried: on Monday, the date of his and wife Theresa's wedding anniversary, their aptly named homebred two-year-old Nat Love broke his maiden in good style.

Making his sixth start in a seven-furlong maiden auction stakes at Epsom, the gelded Nat Love raced prominently and took up the running four out before stretching clear and recording a four-length victory.

His success will mean all the more to the Burns' as he is a Rathasker Stud product through and through.

Bred by Theresa, whose colours he carries, he hails from the second crop of Gregorian, who was bred by Rathasker from its stalwart stallion Clodovil and went on to claim Group 2 glory and finish Group 1-placed on multiple occasions.

Gregorian, also sire of stakes winners Greach and Queen Jo Jo, stands alongside his sire at the County Kildare operation at a fee of €6,000.

Nat Love is the 12th foal and fifth winner out of Chaguaramas, who beat subsequent high-class sprinter The Trader when she broke her maiden at Bath and would later finish a neck second to Atlantis Prince in the Listed Stardom Stakes.

Chaguaramas was also bred by Rathasker Stud from its late, emblematic sire Mujadil, who from value-for-money fees left the likes of Kingsgate Native, Galeota, Lesson In Humility, Masta Plasta and Bouncing Bowdler.

To tie a bow around the anniversary present, Nat Love is trained for the Burns by their close friend and associate Mick Channon.

It has been a productive spell for Rathasker Stud, with its breakthrough sire Bungle Inthejungle supplying last Thursday's Group 2 Lowther Stakes winner Living In The Past, bred by Maurice's brother Patrick at his Newlands House Stud.

Furthermore, another two-year-old homebred from Gregorian, Sesame Birah, ran a respectable second in the Listed Denford Stakes.

Rathasker Stud's month could get even better, as it offers four lots at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale on Tuesday and Wednesday – a Bungle Inthejungle filly, a colt and filly from the first crop of Coulsty and a daughter of Charm Spirit.
