Dreamfield, who showed flashes of brilliance in a light career for John Gosden, is heading to northern India to begin life as a stallion.

A son of Oasis Dream, he won both starts as a juvenile and made a striking handicap debut at Ascot in May the following season, winning so cheekily that he was sent off a 2-1 favourite for the Wokingham.

Denied by a neck at Royal Ascot, he went on to finish a close sixth in the July Cup. Dreamfield appeared only once this season, dropping away when making some of the running in the Abernant Stakes at the Newmarket Craven meeting.

He cost John Ferguson a cool 1,100,000gns when bought at Tattersalls Book 1 in 2015 on behalf of Godolphin, coming from Meon Valley Stud's wonderful Colorspin family.

Dreamfield is out of the Pretty Polly and Nassau Stakes winner Izzi Top, whose subsequent sons Prince Eiji and Willie John have also sold for seven-figure sums.

A deal was brokered by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock and Gaurav Rampal with Dashmesh Stud in Punjab

Tegbir Brar, owner of Dashmesh, said: "Dreamfield is by a sire of sires in Oasis Dream, from a top-class family developed over the years by Meon Valley Stud.

"Not many horses in the world can boast a pedigree where their first three dams are Group 1 winners, his broodmare sire Pivotal is a huge plus too. He has top class racing form, he had a high cruising speed and a good turn of foot too.

"His cracking run in the July Cup where he beat the likes of Blue Point was a great plus for us. He is a great physical specimen having made 1,100,000gns as a yearling.

"We feel he’ll fit the Indian programme very well. Further, he’ll mesh well with daughters of our Sunday Silence stallion, Win Legend, who will make up the bulk of his initial book along with a few more of our Classic mares that will nick well with him."
