A GoFundMe page set up in honour of the late Gerry Dilger, the master of Dromoland Farm who died on Wednesday aged 61, is well on the way to reaching its target of $100,000.

Registered as having been organised by the Friends Of Gerry Dilger, more than 170 donations have already been made towards the Gerry Dilger Equine Scholarship Foundation, pushing the amount raised well beyond $78,000.

Dilger had a well-deserved reputation for affording invaluable experience for young men and women hoping to enter the thoroughbred industry, and the foundation will provide mentoring opportunities to those seeking to make their way in the bloodstock world.

A statement on the GoFundMe page reads: "In honor of our pal Gerry Dilger we have set up a foundation to further Gerry's work in mentoring and helping young people in this industry to further themselves and achieve their goals."

Funeral details have also been arranged, with a visitation to be held on Sunday, March 8 at Kerr Brothers in Lexington. A funeral mass will take place the following day at Cathedral of Christ the King at 1pm local time, followed by a burial at the Lexington Cemetery.

Those wishing to donate to the Gerry Dilger Equine Scholarship Foundation can visit the GoFundMe page here.
