Death announced of July Cup winner and stallion Sakhee's Secret
July Cup winner and champion Italian sire Sakhee's Secret has died at the age of 17, his stud Allevamento Il Grifone has reported.
He is said to have been on a ship to Sardinia at the time, according to Grifone's Francesco Loi, and the stud said via a social media post that it was "a very hard blow for us".
Owned and bred by Bridget Swire, Sakhee's Secret was a winner of five of his 11 starts for Hughie Morrison and also landed the Listed Cathedral and Carnarvon Stakes.
He began life at Whitsbury Manor Stud but had been in Italy since 2015, claiming the domestic stallion title in 2019 and 2020.
Among his best progeny were New Zealand Group 1 winner Sakhee's Soldier and 2019 champion Italian miler Out Of Time.
