The Irish National Stud has announced that announced that Phoenix of Spain his first five mares scanned in foal.

Syndicate support for the Irish 2,000 Guineas winner is has been strong at his opening fee of €15,000.

Those listed in foal are Navette (from the family of Group 1 winners Librettist and Dubai Destination), Breda Castle (a daughter of Listed winning Ice Palace and half-sister to black type two-year-olds Queen Of Ice and Ice Gala), Northern Eclipse (a stakes winning sprinter out of half-sister to Grade 2 winner Snow Dance), Josette (the dam of three black type horses and already the grandam to Grade 1 Pacific Classic winner Collected) and Zumran (a winning sprinter and half-sister to three black type horses including Yourtimeisnow).

Gary Swift, director of sales at The Irish National Stud, said: "We are most encouraged by the reaction from British and Irish breeders.

"His first book of mares very much reflects both how athletically talented he was and how physically imposing he is, with an exceptional calibre of mare visiting him in 2020."
