Anna Kerr appointed as chief operating officer of the National Stud

The National Stud has appointed Anna Kerr as its chief operating officer.

Kerr has gained extensive experience in many facets of the thoroughbred industry through her work with Irish Thoroughbred Marketing, Leopardstown and Paul Moroney Bloodstock, prior to moving to Goodwood to manage the racecourse's sponsorship portfolio.

Kerr is a graduate of the Irish National Stud Thoroughbred Breeding Course, which she attended in 2007.

She gained experience prior to the course under the tutelage of her father, the renowned bloodstock agent Bert Kerr, and will take up her new role with immediate effect.

Kerr said: "It's a really exciting time to be joining the National Stud. I'm particularly looking forward to working closely with Tim [Lane, stud director], the stud team and our board to develop further the award-winning education programme and to help mentor the future leaders of our industry."

Lane said: "Anna brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the stud and will be crucial in implementing our future strategies and elevating the educational arm of the National Stud in particular."
