Allevamento LeGi has welcomed the first foal by European champion sprinter Ten Sovereigns, a filly out of Dweezil who is a winning half-sister to 2005 Italian Derby scorer De Sica.

"She is a nice and strong bay filly foal," reported the stud's Giovanni Parri.

Ten Sovereigns, who struck in the Middle Park Stakes and July Cup for Aidan O'Brien and the Coolmore partners, retired to Coolmore after winning four of his eight starts, including three as a juvenile.

His career-best effort came when seeing off triple top-level hero Advertise by a commanding two and three-quarter lengths in the July Cup at Newmarket, with Fairyland, Pretty Pollyanna and Brando all trailing in his wake.

The son of No Nay Never was bought by Charlie Gordon-Watson for 200,000gns from Camas Park Stud at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

He is the fourth foal out of the stakes-placed Exceed And Excel mare Seeking Solace and a full-brother to the winning Eden Quay.

Ten Sovereigns, whose first foal was born at Richie Fitzgerald’s Ballinasisla Stud in County Waterford, covered a debut book of 214 mares last year.

Among them was Aperitif, a winning half-sister to Group 3 scorer Yafta, who made 300,000gns when selling to Matt Coleman on behalf of Mountarmstrong Stud at the Tattersalls December Mare Sale last month.

The five-year-old will stand for a fee of €20,000 in 2021.
