All attention turns to Goffs for Horses in Training and Yearling Sales
Laws Of Indices and Quick Suzy two high-profile yearling graduates
The Goffs Autumn Horses in Training Sale has traditionally provided buyers with plenty of food for thought, with the likes of Melbourne Cup hero Twilight Payment, who bids to double up on Tuesday, and Matron Stakes winner Champers Elysees either sold or offered at the auction.
Monday's auction, which is followed by the two-day Autumn Yearling Sale, offers an eclectic mix of winners on the Flat and over hurdles, alongside a number of unraced two- and three-year-old prospects.
Drafts from the likes of the Aga Khan Studs, Baroda Stud, Joseph O’Brien, Johnny Murtagh, Willie McCreery, Sheila Lavery and Noel Meade will likely prove popular.
Among the catalogue highlights are Listed scorer Insignia Of Rank (Lot 115), who will be offered by Crampscastle Stables, the Aga Khan's Erzindjan (104), a Listed- and Group-placed son of Lope De Vega from the family of Gold Cup winners Enzeli and Estimate, and Wolf Prince (99), second in last year's Spring Juvenile Hurdle and a winner at Punchestown on his penultimate start.
The Autumn Yearling Sale has gained a reputation for producing top-class performers in recent years, with this season's Prix Jean Prat scorer Laws Of Indices and Queen Mary winner Quick Suzy selling for €8,000 and €20,000 respectively.
This year's catalogue includes consignments from Ballylinch Stud, Baroda Stud, Derrinstown Stud, the Irish National Stud, Oak Lodge & Springfield House, and Oghill House Stud, while among the sires represented are Fascinating Rock, Footstepsinthesand, Galileo Gold, Invincible Spirit, Lope De Vega, Mehmas and Profitable. A handful of first-crop yearling sires have entries too.
Standout lots include Derrinstown Stud's Tasleet half-sister (215) to Queen Mary Stakes winner and 1,000 Guineas third Maqaasid and Jumooh, the dam of Sydney Cup winner Shraaoh; Tinnakill House's Invincible Spirit filly (226) out of Nassau Stakes winner Favourable Terms; Ringfort Stud's Sea The Stars filly (538) out of a Listed-winning full-sister to American Grade 3 scorer Anjaz; and Kilcarn Park's supplemented Starspangledbanner half-sister to Friday's Boshra Sham Fillies' Stakes winner Symphony Perfect.
Three days of selling from Kildare Paddocks begins on Monday at 12pm.
