Alia Choice aiming to make family record count at Newcastle
Kevin Ryan's filly is the first foal out of Lowther winner Queen Kindly
A filly of some significance for both Frankel and owner-breeder Jaber Abdullah takes her first turn on the track at Newcastle on Tuesday.
Alia Choice is the first foal out of broodmare Queen Kindly, who won the Lowther Stakes when featuring among Frankel's first crop. In the Group 2 prize she relegated Fair Eva, the first Group winner for the same sire when she landed the Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot, to third.
Queen Kindly was also bred by the Rabbah Bloodstock operation out of Lady Of The Desert, Abdullah's Rahy filly who also won both the Princess Margaret and the Lowther before finishing third to Special Duty in the Cheveley Park Stakes. Three consecutive generations have landed that York prize as Lady Of The Desert's dam was the unbeaten, seven-length Cheveley Park scorer Queen's Logic.
Queen Kindly, who also won a Listed race and finished fifth in the Prix de l'Abbaye in 2017, had a yearling filly by Dubawi withdrawn from Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Sale this year.
The Lowther comes too late for Alia Choice, a filly by Dark Angel in training with Kevin Ryan. A little inherited ability would see her go well in the Coral Racing-Super-Series For Free Novice Stakes, but the likes of Kaboo and Instinction are experienced rivals with winning form.
