New Group 1 winner for the Coolmore sire
Thee Auld Floozie lands the Group 1 Thorndon Mile
Mastercraftsman was represented by a new Group 1 winner on Saturday when Thee Auld Floozie landed the Group 1 Thorndon Mile at Trentham in New Zealand for trainer Stephen Marsh.
The five-year-old was settled behind the leaders under jockey Rosie Myers as they went off at a fast pace in the early stages of the contest.
As the race entered the home straight, Myers found space to ask Thee Auld Floozie for her challenge and she duly went to the front to record an impressive success.
Bred by John and Sue Young, Thee Auld Floozie is the best performer out of the Listed-winning Spinning World mare Thee Auld Hussie and is from the family of Group 3 winner Thee Old Dragon.
Mastercraftsman, an 11-year-old son of Danehill Dancer, was trained by Aidan O'Brien to win seven races including the Phoenix Stakes, National Stakes, Irish 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes at the highest level.
Since retiring to stud he has supplied the Group 1 scorers Amazing Maria, Kingston Hill, The Grey Gatsby and Valley Girl. He is standing the 2017 breeding season at a fee of €25,000.
