Natavia put in a dominant display in the 1m2f Listed Haras de Bouquetot Fillies' Trial Stakes at Newbury on Saturday to give her sire, Nathaniel, another Oaks contender as well as his second stakes winner.

Owned by Juddmonte, as is Nathaniel's first stakes winner Enable, the Roger Charlton-trained filly also holds an entry for the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Bred by Nathaniel's custodians Newsells Park Stud, Natavia is a half-sister to Spinning Queen, winner of the 2006 Sun Chariot Stakes, out of Our Queen Of Kings, a half-sister to high-class stakes performers including Alrassaam, Fanmore and Labeeb.

The three-year-old filly is a rarity among the Juddmonte string, having been bought at public auction rather than bred. Khalid Abdullah's operation parted with 600,000gns to secure her from Book 1 of the Tattersalls Yearling Sale.

While Nathaniel now has two leading contenders for the Oaks, he also holds strong claims of landing a first Classic winner before the Epsom Group 1, as Back On Board lines up for the Derby Italiano at Capannelle on Sunday.

Back On Board is out of the Hernando mare Holy Moon, who has a remarkable record when it comes to producing Italian Classic winners. She has produced the winners of three consecutive renewals of the Oaks d'Italia, with Cherry Collect winning in 2012, Charity Line in 2013, and Final Score landing the 2014 renewal.

A top-class performer at three and four, Nathaniel retired to Newsells Park Stud, where he stands at a fee of £17,500, having won four of his 11 career starts, most notably the Coral-Eclipse and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
