Mshawish to shuttle to Swettenham Stud

Dual Grade 1 winner will stand at a fee of A$16,500

Mshawish: has been standing his first season at Taylor Made Farm in Kentucky

Dual Grade 1 winner Mshawish, one of 17 top-level scorers for his sire Medaglia D'Oro, is to shuttle to Swettenham Stud for the 2017 southern hemisphere breeding season.

The seven-year-old, who was a €170,000 breeze-up purchase from the Arqana May Sale in 2012, carried the colours of Al Shaqab Racing to nine victories including in the Donn Handicap and Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap.

He has been standing his first season at Taylor Made Farm in Kentucky at a fee of $20,000 and the news of him shuttling to Adam Sangster's operation comes hot on the heels of a golden period for his sire.

Last Friday Medaglia D'Oro supplied his 100th stakes winner when Ever So Clever landed the Grade 3 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn and in the process also became the 50th Graded stakes scorer for her sire.

Sangster said: "Mshawish represents another top-class stallion to come to Victoria. This is indicative of the confidence and strength of the Victorian industry when international entities like Al Shaqab and Taylor Made are willing to send stallions of Mshawish's calibre.

"We have had great support for Toronado from the Australian breeders so I'm really excited to present Mshawish to them. He's a lovely type of stallion with the physical presence we all look for when choosing a mating, being the pre-eminent son of Medaglia D'Oro just caps it off."

Duncan Taylor, president and chief executive of Taylor Made Stallions, added: "We're thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Adam Sangster in shuttling Mshawish to Swettenham Stud.

"Medaglia D'Oro has been very successful from limited opportunities in Australia and we believe having his best son at stud there provides breeders a great option to breed to this emerging sire line.

"This partnership gives him a great opportunity to become an international sire and hopefully the next great dual-hemisphere stallion."

Mshawish will stand at a fee of A$16,500 (£9,664/€11,577).
