Landscape Stud sells at auction for €1.83m

Landscape Stud: fine Georgian residence overlooks the river Suir
1 of 1

Landscape Stud, the County Tipperary property owned by the late Phonsie O'Brien, sold at auction this week for €1.83 million.

The sale was conducted by Paddy Jordan of Jordan Town & Country Estate Agents, with bidding opening at €1m and the gavel eventually falling in favour of an anonymous overseas buyer with equestrian interests.

Landscape Stud comprises a fine Georgian residence with compact stud yard, 14 boxes and ancillary features over 91 acres overlooking the river Suir.

The O'Brien family had owned the property, once part of the famous Mount Congreve Estate, since the 1970s.

In recent years the stud had sold high-class jumpers Albertas Run, Get Me Out Of Here and Monbeg Dude.

Landscape Stud dispersed its bloodstock around 2015-16.

Local press reported there were three other bidders on the property, all from overseas and two with equestrian interests.
