La Motteraye looking to hold court with Dubawi colt out of Just The Judge
The operation will consign 22 lots during the August Sale
Even at an auction as high end as Arqana's August Yearling Sale, few, if any, lots boast as impecable a pedigree and as imposing a physique as the Dubawi colt out of Just The Judge, catalogued as Lot 137.
The colt was bred in partnership by Qatar Racing and the China Horse Club, after the pair combined at 4,500,000gns to secure the Irish 1,000 Guineas-winning dam at the Tattersalls December Sale in 2014.
With such a flawless pedigree the task of selling the colt comes with no small amount of pressure, not that you would know it when speaking to Lucie Lamotte of La Motteraye Consignment during a busy morning of inspections in Deauville on Friday.
Lamotte explained how her operation came to consign the prized lot, saying: "We've worked with Qatar Racing and David Redvers for a long time, they've given us a lot of support and a bit of luck too.
"Gwenael [Monneraye, co-owner of La Motteraye] went to Tweenhills in the spring to look at this horse and suggested that he would be a good fit for the August Sale, and thankfully the owners agreed to send him here."
The youngster was proving every bit as popular as his pedigree entitles him to be as showing continued on Friday, with potential purchasers keen to assess whether his physical prowess matches up to his pedigree.

"He's changed a lot since the spring and has really developed in the last few weeks," said Lamotte. "He's a lovely horse with a very good mind - he's very relaxed and very easy to deal with. He hasn't been in his box much!
"He's always been a big horse but he's very athletic and I'm certain he's a nice one for the future."
Being entrusted with such a valuable yearling is unquestionably a feather in the cap of La Motteraye, relative newcomers to the consignor ranks but with a roll of honour that already includes the likes of The Juliet Rose, Neverland Rock and Sea Of Grace.
"We’re very lucky to be consigning a horse like this," said Lamotte. "We couldn't have imagined being entrusted with horses like this so early when we started to consign a few years ago. It's a very good opportunity."
The Dubawi colt is not the only eye-catching offering from La Motteraye however, with the operation due to take a total of 22 yearlings through the ring during the three-day August Yearling Sale.
Among the draft are the progeny of blue chip stallions such as Dark Angel, Frankel, Lope De Vega and Sea The Stars, while Lot 130, a Siyouni colt out of the Listed-winning Hurryupharriet, is very much among the sale's talking horses.
"We have 30 horses here this week, 22 for the August Sale and eight for the V2," said Lamotte. "We have a very good draft. You never know until they go through the ring but we're happy with how they're showing themselves. We usually have between 25 and 30 horses here but every year the quality of our draft has improved."
