John Gosden joins National Stud as non-executive director
Newmarket trainer becomes the ninth member of the board
Leading trainer John Gosden has been appointed by the Jockey Club to the board of the National Stud as a non-executive director.
The Clarehaven handler, who has more than 3,000 worldwide winners to his name, becomes the ninth member of the board at the National Stud and his appointment comes as the Duke of Roxburghe succeeds Ben Sangster as chairman of the Newmarket operation.
The Duke of Roxburghe said: "We're delighted to welcome a horseman of John's calibre to the board and I know his expertise will prove invaluable to the team. He is hugely respected in racing and bloodstock circles and to be able to draw upon his knowledge, experience and considerable talent is a coup for the National Stud.
"We are all very much looking forward to working with him."
Gosden added: "The National Stud is an important constituent of and contributor to British racing and breeding. I am, therefore, greatly looking forward to joining this vibrant and committed board."
The National Stud has also announced that stud manager Tim Lane has been promoted to the role of stud director. Lane joined the stud in the summer of 2017 and has been instrumental in the operation acquiring a number of new stallions for the 2018 breeding season.
