Immortal Verse's first foal to make his debut at Chantilly
The Dansili colt is trained by Andre Fabre
Literary Society, the first foal out of dual top-level winner and record-priced broodmare buy Immortal Verse, is set to make his debut in the Prix de la Serpentine for unraced three-year-old colts over 1m1½f at Chantilly on Monday at 2.10pm local time (1.10pm BST).
Trained by Freddy Head, the three-year-old colt is a son of Banstead Manor Stud resident Dansili and will face ten rivals in the contest.
Bred by Orpendale, Chelston, Wynatt and Merriebelle Stables, Literary Society is out of the Pivotal mare Immortal Verse, who was trained by Robert Collet to win four races including the Coronation Stakes and the Prix Jacques Le Marois.
Immortal Verse comes from a stellar family nurtured by Kilfrush Stud as her pedigree features the Group/Grade 1 winners Last Tycoon, Sense Of Style, Valentine Waltz and The United States.
Coolmore created history back in 2013 at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale when Adrian Nicoll of BBA Ireland snapped up Immortal Verse on behalf of the operation for a European record of 4,700,000gns.
According to Weatherbys, she is also listed as the dam of a yearling colt by Claiborne Stud's superstar War Front.
Almanzor's sister set for first run
Almanzor proved to be one of the stars of last year's Flat season and now his sister, Troarn, has the chance to get her career off to the perfect start in the Prix de la Traversiere at 3.20pm (2.20pm BST).
She is the second foal out of the unraced Maria's Mon mare Darkova and her brother Almanzor landed the Prix du Jockey Club, Irish Champion Stakes and Champion Stakes for Jean-Claude Rouget last year.
Haras d'Etreham bred Troarn out of Darkova, who was picked up by Nicolas de Chambure's Canirola Bloodstock for €16,000 at the Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale. She stems from the family of the Aga Khan's triple Group 1 heroine Darjina.
Rouget is also to handle the career of Troarn and it was the French legendary trainer who picked her up for €110,000 at the Arqana V2 Yearling Sale in 2015.
She is not the only well-bred filly in the contest as Andre Fabre unleashes Godolphin homebred Rueing.
By the late Street Cry, Rueing is the second foal out of the Refuse To Bend mare Wavering, who was trained by Fabre to win two races including the Prix Saint-Alary as a three-year-old and is from the family of Derby winner Golden Fleece.
Fabre also sends out Esquisse for the Wertheimer brothers. She is a daughter of Dansili out of the breeders' Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed Rahy mare Legerete.
Esquisse is a half-sister to Listed winner Pilote and features Falco, Groom Dancer, Plumania, Balladeuse and Left Hand in her pedigree.
The family has been represented by success recently as Esquisse's second dam, the Seattle Slew mare Sea Hill, is the dam of Legerete's half-sister Underwater.
Underwater is in turn the dam of Sousmarine, whose first foal Soleil Marin landed the Listed Prix Francois Mathet for Fabre last month.
