Goffs Autumn Yearling Sale to be held online following HIT auction success
The two-day sale will take place from November 17-18
The Goffs Autumn Yearling Sale will follow in the successful footsteps of Thursday's Horses in Training auction and take place online, the company has revealed.
Following on from the Autumn HIT sale - in which the Godolphin-consigned Paso Doble led the way when selling to Tom Malone for €125,000 - the two-day yearling auction will also be held over the internet.
Walking and conformation videos will be available prior to the sale, which takes place from 10am on November 17 and 18. All the lots entered will be sold with a pre-sale clinical veterinary certificate and could face further examination before purchase.
Goffs group chief executive Henry Beeby said: “We were greatly encouraged by the level of online trade at the Autumn HIT Sale, with 944 bids placed online and 56 horses selling through the Goffs Online platform and a further six by telephone bidding.
"While none of this ideal, it's a solution to the current Covid restrictions in Ireland and we are grateful for the positive reaction of vendors and buyers alike, who embraced the concept with huge enthusiasm."
He added: "The Autumn Yearling Sale offers buyers serious bang for their buck, with just two examples from last year’s sale being the Group winners Laws Of Indices and Elysium, who were bought for €8,000 and €15,000 respectively, and this year’s catalogue features plenty more quality and value."
The 944 online bids on Thursday came from buyers in 12 different countries - Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Qatar, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
